Another America – another Europe

Another America – another Europe

A transatlantic dialogue on the sustainable development of two continents.

Lecture and discussion session of the SDSN Germany and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation with Jeffrey Sachs and Gesine Schwan in Berlin on May 31, 2017.

What is wrong with the previous models of globalization and development? Why do so many people, even in richer countries, feel left behind and not perceived? How can broad-based growth in all countries be linked to observing the natural limits of our planet?

The Agenda 2030 on Sustainable Development adopted by the world’s leaders at the United Nations in September 2015 is a future-oriented response to the crisis of globalization. The Group of the twenty most important industrialized and emerging economies (G20) has also committed itself to implementing Agenda 2030 at home and abroad.

We still do not know what the G20 summit in Hamburg will contribute to this. But it is clear that a change of course in Europe and America is necessary. Jeffrey Sachs has laid out concrete paths for this in his latest book “Building the New American Economy”. Gesine Schwan sees the EU in a solidarity crisis and is promoting a European restart. SDSN Germany and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation cordially invite you to participate in the discussion.

Jeffrey Sachs is the Director of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).

Gesine Schwan is co-chairman of SDSN Germany.
