Can Social Media influence Elections?

The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Jörg Heiser of the University of the Arts in Berlin and Joanna Bronowicka, Director of the Center for Internet at Human Rights of the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt / Oder.
It was followed by a keynote by Dr. Michał Kosiński from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a discussion with Dr. Michał Kosiński, Prof. Dr. Jörg Heiser, Joanna Bronowicka and the activist and hacker Anne Roth, who also works for the left in the German Bundestag. The discussion focused on questions like: What impact does technology have on elections? Can the micro-targeting of political advertising alter the voting behavior of individuals? What measures are needed to safeguard fundamental freedoms and human rights, freedom of decision, freedom of expression and right to privacy?
The event was moderated by Prof. Anja Mihr, Head of the Center on Governance through Human Rights.
