Trialog: Building renovation – not only good for the climate. What are the multiple benefits worth?

The energy-related performance of buildings is one of the most important levers for climate protection: Inefficient heating systems and poor building envelopes are responsible for the fact that buildings produce about one third of German greenhouse gas emissions. But energy-efficient renovation triggers more than just a reduction in climate-damaging emissions and heating costs. How much does a high energy-performance level of the building contribute to protecting your health? How much is the comfort of a comfortable apartment worth? What loss of value threatens if the outdated property no longer meets the climate protection requirements? In short, which additional benefits arise from renovation measures and how can they be measured?

In the Trialog, we would like to discuss these issues with you and other stakeholders from the public sector, the business sector, organized civil society and academia.

The Trialog marks the launch of the project “Multiple benefits as a driver of energy-efficient building renovation”, which is implemented by the HUMBOLDT-VIADRINA Governance Platform in cooperation with the Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE) and funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation.
