German Lotto Foundation approves joint project of HVGP and the Technical University of Berlin “For an Urban Agenda – Transdisciplinary Trialogs for Urban Development Berlin”

According to the UN Conference Habitat III, the future of the people lies in the city. They are the places where the quality of future coexistence is decided. The city of Berlin with its unexpected dynamic growth is one of the best examples. The question of how this growth can be made as productive and sustainable as possible cannot be solved by politicians, citizens or scientists alone. Transdisciplinary Trialogs, as processes that involve all stakeholders, offer the opportunity to create common action strategies. The German Lotto Foundation (Deutsche Lottostiftung) has pledged around 400. 000 Euros for the joint project of the HVGP and Technical University of Berlin “For an Urban Agenda – Transdisciplinary Trialogs for Urban Development Berlin”. The issues of immigration, mobility, growth and tourism will be discussed in a total of eight Trialogs.

The HVGP and TU Berlin Trialogs for a new urban agenda focus on the cooperation between local government, civil society organizations, the private sector, and academia to develop concrete transdisciplinary options for action. In a next step, these options will be tested in pilot projects to keep developing the knowledge gained in the Trialog process.

The format of transdisciplinary Trialogs allows to accompany in a collaborative approach the entire process: from the definition of a field of action or a research question, to the conception of an action and a concrete project design to its implementation with the participation of politics, science, organized civil society and business.
