Berlin has a long history of immigration and integration. Especially in recent years, the city has seen a significant increase in population, characterized by different forms of migration. Immigrants include highly skilled people and students from abroad, but also people who have had to leave their country of origin due to war and persecution. In view of ongoing immigration, Berlin is confronted with challenges in numerous fields of action, such as bureaucracy, education, and employment. How can immigration and successful integration in the growing city be shaped?

The format

We transcribe and evaluate our trialogues® social science. The result is published here in the detailed report "Immigration to Berlin: Opportunities and Challenges for the Growing City". It contains arguments and their justifications of all trialogue®-participants and relates them to each other. In the long term, the interfaces between science and urban society will serve as points of reference for initiating transdisciplinary projects in the city.

The Trialog®

Our second Trialog® "Immigration to Berlin: Opportunities and Challenges for the Growing City" as part of the New Urban Agenda Berlin project addressed the question of how to deal with the current population development in a sustainable and city-friendly way. 80 participants from science, politics and administration, business and organized civil society discussed pressing challenges and options for action on October 04, 2018.
