The trialogue "Building refurbishment - not just good for the climate. What are the additional benefits worth?" marked the start of the 15-month project "Additional benefits as drivers of energy-efficient building refurbishment". The project is being jointly implemented by the Berlin Governance Platform and the Buildings Performance Institute Europe and funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation.

In the trialogue, stakeholders from politics & administration, business, organised civil society, science and the media discussed the question of which non-energy benefits are relevant for building refurbishment and how these can be made measurable for stakeholders. One core result of the discussion was that a new economic efficiency calculation is needed in future that also takes into account the additional benefits. At the same time, new communication strategies are needed to communicate the various benefits to the target groups.
