The trialogue "Building refurbishment – not just good for the climate. What are the additional benefits worth?" kicked off the 15-month project "Additional benefits as drivers of energy-efficient building refurbishment". The project is jointly implemented by the Berlin Governance Platform and the Buildings Performance Institute Europe and funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt.
In the trialogue, stakeholders from politics and administration, business, organized civil society, science and the media discussed the question of which non-energy benefits are relevant for building renovation and how these can be made measurable for the stakeholders. A core result of the discussion was that in the future, a new economic efficiency calculation is needed that also takes into account the additional benefits. At the same time, new communication strategies are needed to communicate the many benefits to the target groups.
