We are happy to finally announce the date of our joint conference! The conference will be organised by From the Sea to the Citya European civil society network organised in cooperation with the cities of Palermo and Potsdam.
While the EU and national governments are focussing on deterring migration at all costs, more and more cities across Europe are becoming agents of change in favour of a more sustainable society. Europe in solidarity and take responsibility for the Protection of human life. The number of MunicipalitiesThe European Refugee Movement, which has volunteered to take in more refugees, is growing across Europe and represents a powerful political voice that can revitalise Europe from the grassroots.
The "From the Sea to the City" conference will Mayors, city representatives and civil society from across Europe to call for a progressive migration policy that puts human rights at the centre and to discuss practical solutions to reception.
The conference is a further step in the process of creating a European network of cities, municipalities and civil societywith the aim of advocating an active role for cities in European migration policy. This network aims to increase the visibility of municipalities that promote a different migration policy at EU level, encourage other cities to take action and form stronger alliances with civil society actors.
