Dr Franziska Brantner

Biography

Franziska Brantner, born in 1979 in Lörrach, has been Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection since December 2021. She has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2013. She was previously a Member of the European Parliament for four years.

Born in Baden-Württemberg, she studied political science and economics, is a social scientist and completed degrees in Paris and New York. She completed her doctorate in Mannheim on the United Nations' capacity for reform.

From December 2013 to September 2017, she was spokesperson for children and family policy for the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group in the Bundestag; from March 2014 to September 2017, she chaired the Subcommittee on Civilian Crisis Prevention, Conflict Transformation and Networked Action; from 2013 to 2017, she was a deputy member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on European Union Affairs.

Since February 2018, Franziska Brantner has been European policy spokesperson and Parliamentary Secretary of the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group in the Bundestag, a member of the Committee on European Union Affairs and a deputy member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
