Laura Gerards Iglesias has been leading a pilot project in the field of "Municipal Development Councils" since January 2022 and coordinates other areas of responsibility in the same department at the Berlin Governance Platform.

Laura studied European Studies and International Affairs in Maastricht, Paris, Berlin and Geneva and focussed during her studies on approaches for the inclusion of disadvantaged groups in peace and mediation processes. During her studies, she worked as a trainer for peer empowerment at universities and institutes and developed a digital training programme for teams in organisations. After her studies, she worked with the Centre for Humanitarian Diaogue (HD) in Geneva to develop a strategy for the inclusion of local women's groups in peace processes as part of her Mercator Fellowship. Subsequently, Laura coordinated two local dialogue processes for HD in Ukraine with a focus on organised women's groups and civil society from both sides of the conflict line.
