The Municipal Development Council the City of Cottbus has adopted its recommendations for the future of the "Zukunftsort Stadtpromenade". In a comprehensive participation process, the diverse interests of urban society were brought together and concrete guidelines for the future use and design of the area were developed.
The city promenade, once a flagship urban development project, lay fallow for a long time after being demolished for a shopping centre that was never fully realised. The acquisition of the site by the city in February 2023 gave the redesign new political momentum.
The recommendations now available from the Development Advisory Board offer a sound basis for the next steps and provide the city council with clear impetus for a forward-looking development of the city centre's heart.
