Municipal development programmes completed in Niesky and Hoyerswerda

Hand over recommendations

The municipal development councils in Niesky and Hoyerswerda have also been finalised - with success!

In Niesky A municipal development advisory board has been meeting in Upper Lusatia since March 2023. The advisory board was tasked with drawing up guidelines for the city's economic development. Based on a jointly developed vision for the future, the advisory board presented guidelines on 16 October that are intended to provide orientation for future decisions by the city council on economic issues. In addition, conditions were formulated under which the possible establishment of a railway testing centre should be examined.

In Hoyerswerda an overall concept was developed for the "Grüne Saum", a local recreation and adventure area that runs around the old and new town centres. In keeping with the theme, the handover of the recommendations was combined with a tree planting campaign, which symbolically marked the start of the realisation of the green fringe.

Niesky and Hoyerswerda are partner municipalities in the 2022-2023 Municipal development councils pilot project - Shaping the future together locally. The pilot project supported 5 municipalities throughout Germany in implementing a municipal development council on a topic relevant to the future of the municipality.
