From 2022 to 2025, Laura Gerards Iglesias was project manager for Municipal Development Councils at the Berlin Governance Platform. She remains associated with the format and is involved in the advisory board for municipal development councils.
She is a trained mediator and studied European Studies and International Affairs in Maastricht, Paris, Berlin and Geneva. After completing her studies, she worked with the Centre for Humanitarian Diaogue (HD) in Geneva to develop a strategy for the inclusion of local women's groups in peace processes as part of her Mercator Fellowship. Subsequently, she coordinated two local dialogue processes for HD in Ukraine with a focus on organised women's groups and civil society from both sides of the conflict line. She also gained experience as a mediator, trainer for peer empowerment among women and developed a digital training programme for teams.
