The Municipal Development Council the Joint municipality of Meinersen has developed a strategy for the local energy and heating transition in an intensive participatory process. Over the course of four meetings, a committee representing the interest groups within the municipality developed recommendations for action. Particular attention was paid to the utilisation of existing energy sources, the active participation of residents and the expansion of information exchange in order to reduce uncertainty and promote understanding of the necessary changes.
The result was a creative and sustainable approach. The advisory board has managed to bring different interests together towards a common goal and find solutions that can be supported by the entire community.
