Webinar-Invitation: New Implementation Guide on Data-Driven Matching of Refugees and Cities

After two years of successful piloting, Re:Match has summarized key learnings and recommendations on data-driven Matching of Refugees and Cities in an Implementation Guide for practitioners and advocats. Join us as we explore and discuss how the matching modell can be replicated, adapted and implemented!

14. November 2024

To advance an effective and humane migration and asylum governance, our approaches must be practical, grounded in solidarity, and inclusive of both the people seeking protection in our communities and the cities and municipalities welcoming them.

In this spirit, the Berlin Governance Platform is delighted to invite you to a webinar on our new Implementation Guide on Data-Driven Matching of Refugees and Cities, on December 3, 2024 (16:00 – 17:00 CEST).

The Re:Match Implementation Guide  streamlines an innovative, data-driven model for relocating refugees directly to cities. This approach aligns refugees’ needs and preferences with local capacities and resources, creating a more participatory and tailored model for admission and distribution. This can enhance reception, improve integration outcomes, and strengthen solidarity in migration and asylum governance.

The guide is built upon key learnings from our Re:Match project, which piloted this matching-based approach over the past two years. Through Re:Match, 137 displaced Ukrainians were successfully relocated from the EU’s member state Poland to our eight German partner cities, offering a practical demonstration of how EU solidarity can be achieved together with the municipal level.

Event Highlights:

  • Implementation Guide Launch: Learn about practical steps to implement a data-driven matching model.
  • Q&A: Explore with us how a data-driven matching model can enhance local capacity, meet refugees’ specific needs in different areas and protection pathways, and inform policies for improved reception and integration

The Implementation Guide is publicly available here.

Who Should Attend:

We warmly welcome both representatives from administrations and policymakers from the local, federal, national levels, but also EU officials, researchers, (international) NGOs, and civil society representatives who are interested in developing and implementing data driven matching for an innovative, effective and participatory migration and asylum governance.

We highly appreciate if you could share this invitation with interested colleagues.

Join us as we discuss how we can create more inclusive and sustainable pathways for refugees across Europe and beyond while achieving more equitable and effective outcomes for all stakeholders. We look forward to engaging with you!
